2025 Jaime Whelan Foundation Fundraiser Update

Dear Friends and Family,

We’re writing to let you know that we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Jaime Whelan Foundation fundraiser.

Our father, Jim Whelan, sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 13th, due to some complications from a heart attack two months prior. We’ve decided that the best thing for our family right now is to focus on supporting each other and healing together.

We’re incredibly grateful for your continued support of the Jaime Whelan Foundation. Thanks to your generosity over the years—and some careful planning — we’re fortunate to be able to continue our scholarship program this upcoming school year without holding a formal fundraiser. Additionally, this past June, we awarded $22,500 in scholarships to three outstanding young women graduating from Long Beach Catholic Regional School, who will be attending Sacred Heart Academy this fall.

While we won’t be gathering for an event this year, we welcome any contributions you might be able and willing to share to help continue Jaime’s legacy. If you’d like to donate, you can do so at jaimewhelanfoundation.org or via Venmo using the link below. As always, your support means the world to us, in whatever form it takes. Thank you, as always, for being part of this mission and for honoring Jaime’s legacy with us. Please continue to follow us on our social media channels for all future event information at Instagram or Facebook.

Sincerely,

James and Joe Whelan

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to our charity in their memory, so we may continue the important work that has always been close to our hearts.

JWF: Helping support the recovery efforts of Brendan Wagner

We are proud to announce that the Jaime Whelan Foundation is donating $10,000 to support the recovery efforts of Brendan Wagner.

Brendan is a fellow Long Beach Catholic School alum who was involved in a terrible car accident in December 2013, which caused a severe spinal cord injury and stroke resulting in paralysis from the neck down. Brendan is unable to breathe on his own and therefore relies heavily on electricity to power the machines that help him breathe. He is currently in a rehabilitation facility in NYC but his family is doing all they can to get him to his home to continue his recovery. The JWF’s $10,000 donation will be used to equip Brendan’s house with a generator, which will ensure consistent operation of those life-saving machines in all circumstances.

For more information on how you can help Brendan please visit his website at www.brendanwagner.com
